Mark Cannon, born in 1950 in West Germany to a Polish family (birth name Mochorowski), is a psychiatrist in private practice in Larchmont, New York. His major piano studies have been with Malcolm Bilson, Seymour Bernstein, and Eric Heidsieck. He has an extensive performing history, including a New York debut in 1982 which was nicely reviewed in the New York Times, and Beethoven's Emperor Concerto with the Doctors' Orchestral Society. His programs have emphasized the Romantic repertoire, with special devotion to the works of Chopin. He has been a finalist in amateur competitions in Colorado and Washington, DC, and a semifinalist in the amateur Cliburn competition and the Fryderyk Chopin Competition.
