
Chia Ying Lee
Chia Ying Lee is an AI researcher with a lifelong passion for piano. Trained in Singapore and the US, she studied Mathematics and Music at the University of Michigan and holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown University. After a decade-long hiatus to pursue her second passion, figure skating, Chia Ying returned to her first love after buying a piano for her new home. Besides competitions and festivals, including the 2026 Oberlin Amateur Piano Competition, where she won 3rd prize, she participates actively in the local music community and blogs about connecting neuroscience and motor learning theory with piano playing. She studies with Roberto Poli, and has taken masterclasses with Alexander Kobrin, Alessio Bax, Sergey Schepkin and Victor Rosenbaum, among others.
